Pink Cabled Cowl

This bright pink cowl will be sure to draw some compliments while keeping your neck warm and stylish!
I used two skeins of Hometown USA in Neon Pink with size 13 circular needles.
FC: sl 3 sts to dpn, hold in front, k2, sl the p st from dpn to left handed needle and p it, k2 from dpn
BC: sl 3 sts to dpn, hold in back, k2, sl the p st from dpn to left handed needle and p it, k2 from dpn

Co72, join without twisting, pm
Rows 1,2,3,5,6,7: *p2, (k2, p1) 4 times, k2, p2; rep from * across to end
Row 4: *p2, k2, (p1, FC) twice, p2; rep from * across to end
Row 8: *p2, (BC, p1) twice, k2, p2; rep from * across to end

Repeat rows 1-8 until nearly out of yarn. Bo off the the established ribbing pattern after a row 6.
Weave in all ends.
This pattern is fairly quick with the chunky yarn. The five stranded braid cable is a beautiful pattern with the lovely texture, and looks nice with a bold color like this.
My finished cowl is 30" around and 9" tall.
I hope you enjoy this warm pattern!
Xoxo, Alyssa

  2. I am confused, what do the () and the * denote? I haven't seen them used them together.
Love the cowl and design, pattern a bit confusing. Thanks for help...Juice Jenson

    1. The parentheses within the asterisk section just means that you do something more than once. So here in row 4 it says (p1, FC) twice, and that is in the asterisk section. You would p1, FC, p1, FC here. Hope that clarifies.

  3. On your rows 1,2,3,5,6,7 are you missing 2 stitches? I count 22 (2+16+4), but think it should be 24, repeated 3 times to make 72 stitches? Should I add a K2 at the beginning of the repeat? The cable rows count to 72. Thanks.

    1. I had a typo, but I fixed it. Thanks for asking so I could find it!
On rows 1,2,3,5,6,7, it should be (k2,p1) four times, not (k2,p2) four times. The pattern is a multiple of 18 stitches, repeated four times.

  5. This maybe a silly question. If you knit left handed, should one reverse the FC and the BC so it will look right?

    1. Interesting question! I don't actually know, but from googling it, it seems to me like you should reverse them. So make FC into BC and vice verse.
