Sparkly Ocean Infinity Scarf

The sparkly yarn of this scarf combined with the oceanic tones looks great with the open, airy stitch.
I used one skein of Red Heart Shimmer in Peacock with an H hook.
Ch 43
Row 1: (dc, ch4, dc) in 13th from hook, ch4, sk next 5 ch, dc in next ch, *ch4, sk next 5 ch, (dc, ch4, dc) in next ch, ch4, sk next 5 ch, dc in next ch; rep from * across, turn
Row 2: ch5 (counts as dc, ch2), sc in next ch4 loop, *(4 dc, ch2, 4dc) in next ch4 loop, sc in next ch4 loop**, ch4, sc in next ch4 loop; repeat from * across, ending last rep at **, ch2, dc in next ch of turning ch, turn
Row 3: ch4 (counts a dc, ch1), dc in first dc, sk next ch2 sp, *ch4, dc in next ch2 sp, ch4**, dc, ch4, dc) in next ch4 loop; rep from * across, ending last rep at **, (dc, ch1, dc) in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn
Row 4: ch 4 (counts as tr), 4 dc in next ch1 sp, *sc in next ch4 loop, ch4, sc in next ch4 loop**, (4 dc, ch2, 4 dc) in next ch4 loop; rep from * across, ending last rep at **, 4dc in next ch1 sp of turning ch, tr in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn
Row 5: ch 7 (counts as dc, ch4), (dc, ch4, dc) in next ch4 loop, ch4**, dc in next ch2 sp, ch4; rep from * across! ending last rep at **, dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn

Repeat rows 2-5 for pattern, ending on a row 5. Fasten off, seam together, and weave in ends.
The finished scarf is 8" x 54".

This lacy scarf can be wrapped once or twice, and is super airy. It is perfect for summer for just a little bit of warmth, while still showing off summery colors.
Enjoy this pattern!

  5. is there a way for me to do this flat instead of as an infinity? also what is the pattern repeat

    1. You can add or subtract a multiple of 12 to the original starting ch. If you want to make this flat, just don't seam the ends together at the end.

  6. Need help on row 2, not really understanding what to do.

  9. How many yards of yarn does this take?

  10. Why are you answering a question that was posted after my question that was posted on 11-14-17. Do only certain questions count. Not encouraging for a person new to Crochet.

    1. Oh I’m so sorry. Sometimes comment notifications get lost in my email, and I also get notifications when comments are deleted so I may have thought you deleted your comment.
I don’t have videos of any of my projects.

    2. Your patterns is beautiful, but complicated, I have had two experienced ladies try to help me with it, and they both said it is a difficult pattern and they had trouble following directions. They said directions were not clear and that there was a line that didn't seem to belong. I'm new at this and don't want to give up, and again I ask you to consider a video. But no video, I'm done. Thanks

    3. I promise all the rows are necessary. As a first year college student, I simply do not have the time nor the resources with me at school to make videos of all my projects. I have thought about it, but I just don’t have a feasible way of making videos.

    4. You can use your cell phone to do video and post on YouTube for free, for just this one. The rest don't seem as complicated.

  11. Thank you for responding. It would be great if you could, it would encourage more ladies to crochet especially with your gorgeous designs

  12. On the second row, do you crochet around the loop rather than in the stitches from the previous row?

    1. Yes, you crochet around the ch4 loops from the previous row.

    2. Thanks--I'm trying it out on some leftover yarn before going to the nicer yarn, since I'm a relative newbie at crocheting--and so far it looks very nice! It helps that the pictures are there.

  13. Couldn't find the yarn you recommended so now have a question - how long is the scarf (I've four smaller balls of a replacement yarn)? Thanx.

  14. I have to agree with MJ Norris.. your pattern is beautiful but doesn't turn out right. I think you have a couple of typos that need to be set right. Not an "easy" pattern as stated.

  15. I'm lost too. "Row 1: (dc, ch4, dc) in 13th from hook" - 13th chain??? And Row 3 - "ending last rep at **, (dc, ch1, dc) in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn" - this does not match the stitches I have. I freely admit to being a novice so would appreciate some help!

  16. The pattern is fairly lacy, so the 13th ch is right. I’m not quite sure where you’re going wrong, but everything should match up when you end the pattern repeat at **.

  17. Maybe when you get a break from school you could do a video.

  18. I'm on the second series of 5 rows and it's going well. Just to note one asterisk missing on row 5 but easy to figure out. Good for you inventing such a lovely pattern and studying at the same time!

  19. Is row 1 really starting at 13th from hook, or is that a typo? Thanks

    1. Yes, start at the 13th ch from the hook. This makes the lace with the larger holes.
