Grey Grid Cowl

For my first pattern of 2019, I'm sharing this warm cowl with a simple, pretty grid pattern. This soft grey cowl is perfect to tuck under a coat, with such a neutral color and pretty texture. It is knit flat and then seamed, and is a pretty quick project.

I used four skeins of Knit Picks Andean Treasure in Fog Heather with size 7 needles.

CO 151

Row 1: k1, *k1, p1: rep from * to end to last 2 sts, k2

Row 2: k1, *p1, k1; rep from * to end to last 2 sts, p1, k1

Row 3: k across

Row 4: k across

Repeat rows 1-4 for the pattern. When you have reached the desired length of the cowl, BO loosely, or use JSSBO.

I lightly blocked this. Not to stretch it, but just to finish it off.

After blocking, if you are doing so, seam the ends together and weave in ends.

I love this yarn- it's so soft and fluffy. I have found this yarn makes a really plush fabric. And this soft color makes this cowl perfect for cold weather!

My finished cowl is 14" tall and 37" around.

XOXO, Alyssa

  1. This one looks warm Alyssa. I finally bought yarn and cast on and started knitting my Summertime Shawl this week. I am using Knit Picks Hawthorne Fingering in Lovejoy. I wear a lot of orange and wanted a tonal yarn with orange in it. When I looked they didn't have much in stock that met that criteria with the orange. I am enjoying knitting with this though. I just wanted to thank you for all of the patterns you put up. My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer. He has had surgery to remove it but is now undergoing radiation and chemo at the same time. We spend a lot of time in doctor waiting areas and his chemo lasts for five hours once a week. I wanted a project I could take with me but was easy enough that I could put it down and figure out where I was out the next time I picked it up. I use Evernote to store things. I knew all I had to do was go to my knitting patterns and type in Alyssa and I would be able to find a pattern that would fit that need. I had even commented on that pattern as I had liked it so much. So thank you so much Alyssa for sharing your wonderful talent with all of us so generously. You don't know how much I appreciate it at this time.

    1. I enjoy Knit Picks Hawthorne as well!
I am sorry to hear about your husband, and hope he recovers fully and quickly. I am so glad you enjoy my patterns, I always appreciate hearing that.
