Dragonfly Scarf

This lacy, loopy scarf is super soft and bright!
I used one skein of Boutique Unforgettable in Dragonfly with size 8 needles. I worked the scarf flat, then seamed it together. I knit it on circular needles, to accommodate the large amount of stitches.
Co 310
Rows 1-4: knit
Row 5: insert rh needle into lh needle, yo twice, k 1. Repeat into every stitch.
Row 6: knit into each stitch, dropping the two extra wraps.
Repeat rows 1-6, ending on a row 4.
Bo loosely, and weave in ends.
*To do row 5, I think of it like inserting the rh needle into the lh needle, then yo three times, then pulling the rh needle through to complete.
My scarf is about 80"x5".
The great thing about this stitch is that it is completely reversible, and it can be made with any number of stitches.
Enjoy!
Xoxo, Alyssa

    3. In the pattern I say yo twice. There isn't another comment that I say to yo three times, so I'm not sure where you are getting that from.

    4. She's getting it from the the comment following the asterisk. Yes, it is confusing.

    5. Yes, it is only two yo's. But the way that the stitch is done, it is like making three yo's, then pulling the rh needle through the last yo to make the k stitch.

  3. How long are your circular needles because from the pattern it sounds like you'll have 930 stitches after row 5. Am I reading that right?

    1. There will be a lot of stitches, but the added ones all get dropped. I used 32" circulars.

  4. Love the scarf. So has it been decided , which is it. ? yo 2, or yo 3???

    1. It is yo twice, but then you knit a stitch. So it is almost like yo three times. I just added that little note since I figured some people might be confused about how to do it.

  5. Hi,

    1. You are going to cast on 310 stitches. I'm not sure what r1 is from the pattern, or 1h. Do you mean rh and lh? That would be the right hand needle and left hand needle. K1 means to knit one stitch.
      I hope that helps!

  7. What size knitting needles? You say 8, but is it USA 8 or 8 mm?

  8. Normally yo is done before insertingbthe needle...here we are inserting the needle as if to knit....then wrapping the yarn twice and then wrap the yarn the third time n pull up the knit stitch...am I right??? Next row drop the two wrapped stitches???

  9. I love this pattern. I'd like to make this a scarf. I found the exact yarn in the same color and have size 8 straight needles. Could you please give me the knitting directions for a scarf. Thanks

    1. The even rows would be purled, so on row 6, you would purl the sts, dropping the extra loops. You can cast on any number of stitches you want to, but I would recommend having an extra stitch at the edge for a border.

  10. This is lovely. I think I'd like to make it even bigger and lose myself in it, lol!

  11. Just to clarify, you knit this back and forth on a circular needle? So, it's basically a garter stitch pattern? And then seamed the two short ends together, right? I think I would rather join the CO row and knit it circularly. I would the purl the even rows, right? Thank you for a beautiful pattern. I'm off to Michaels for a skein of yarn!

    1. That would work too. I would rather knit than purl, so that's why I didn't join the ends together.
