December Sky Cowl-free crochet pattern

Cowls are an absolute necessity for those cold days and nights in the heart of winter. For this easy cowl, I chose a  wintry navy blue. I will get a ton of use out of it in the upcoming months. I made this cowl in about 45 minutes. This project is perfect for a last minute gift, but make sure to crochet yourself one too!

I used about a third of Vanna's Choice in Navy, and a K hook for drape.
*In US notation
Chain 63, and join with a slip stitch, being careful not to twist chain.
Row 1: chain 4 (this will count as the first dc and ch 1), sk 1 ch, *dc in next, ch 1, sk 1; repeat from * to end. Join with a slip stitch in 3rd ch.
Row 2: ch 2, *sc in ch 1 sp, ch 1; repeat from * to end. Join with a slip stitch in 1st ch.
Row 3: ch 2, * sc in ch 1 sp, ch 1;  repeat from * to end. Join with a slip stitch in 1st ch.
Row 4: repeat row 3.
Row 5: ch 4 *dc in ch 1 sp, ch 1; repeat from * to end. Join with slip stitch in 3rd ch.
Repeat rows 2-5 two more times.
I swear this actually navy blue. I feel like it looks grey.
The pattern creates a much more interesting texture than just plain single crochet with double crochet stripes.

Enjoy this cowl in those cold winter months!
Xoxo, Alyssa
